Hezron Louw & Foods Trucks
“Everything about this business is exciting. The food, working with our young staff, meeting and interacting with customers. It’s a great way to make a living. Sumting Fresh is absolutely what I want to do - everyday we’re taking it to new heights.
I grew-up in Ennerdale with the idea that I wanted to go into the financial world. I soon realised that, that wasn’t for me, and my dream to work with food became a reality when I partnered with Andrew. And, that was it! I left my job at the bank, and I haven’t looked back. My financial background has helped a great deal when it comes to running a business and has definitely assited in shaping Sumting Fresh into the company it has become today.
Starting off in a two man trailer, to now having three Food Trucks outlets and a brick and mortar restaurant, it is a dream come true – and the potential for more is definitely there.
I’ve had great fun representing Sumting Fresh on a variety of platforms, from food, lifestyle and entrepreneurship. I took part in season 1 of Top Chef South Africa, winning four challenges. And the television bug bit, when I co-starred in repeat seasons of SABC 3’s Tyers and Braaiers alongside comedian Nic Rabinowitz.
Through much hard work and dedication, I took part in the Tsogo Sun Enterprise Development programme and was honoured to win the Tsogo Sun Entrepreneur of the Year 2017. I believe in going for your dreams, and this entrepreneurial spirit is fostered in my staff on a daily basis.
I believe our journey is one worth sharing, and my newly found love for mentorship & public speaking sees me sharing this story, encouraging others to never give up. We work hard every day - but we push through. My biggest sacrifice has been time; however the company has grown beyond my imagination and has the potential to grow even more. The new ideas keep us going, but we will always keep true to how we started, and the food. It’s all about the food.”
